Baptisms

Jesus said to his followers: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.”  Matthew 28:19.

Holy Baptism is a once-in-a-lifetime sacrament in your child’s faith journey. Like Holy Communion, Holy Baptism graces us with the gifts of forgiveness, life, and salvation. This great gift is offered to every member family at Light of Christ as well as every family that is seeking or exploring membership at Light of Christ.

Please contact the church office if you are seeking to schedule a baptism. Baptisms are scheduled during our normal worship services (unless truly extraordinary circumstances make it impossible to do the baptism in worship). We celebrate baptisms at most services on most Sundays, although there are services throughout the year that are not available for baptisms.

You will also need to meet with the pastor prior to the baptism itself. This meeting is a one hour, one time, session in which you will learn more about the gifts, promises, and responsibilities that come with Holy Baptism. In addition, you will be introduced to some of the faith practices you can use in your home to nurture a living faith in a loving God in your son or daughter.
