Pre-planning for End of Life is often a discussion you choose to avoid. While it may be difficult, it also may be one of the most important gifts you can give to family members. Pre-planning ensures your loved ones are well protected, well prepared and well loved.
End of Life planning is important between spouses but also important to include family members. Willingness to be open to this discussion is a reciprocal gift that parents give to their age-appropriate children and children give to their parents. This discussion can allow parents to express their wishes with their children. It can allow family members the opportunity to assist parents in making decisions they might find uncomfortable and awkward. It minimizes the stress and anxiety in making these decisions at the difficult time of a loved one’s passing.
Pre-planning for end of life has many facets. It may include estate planning, financial considerations, memorial preferences and consideration of a final resting spot.
Light of Christ offers tools and support as you make the decision to give your loved ones the gift of end-of-life
pre-planning. In 2025 we offered a pre-planning seminar with legal professionals sharing estate planning tips and
a pre-planning funeral director providing extensive information on all aspects of end-of-life details. Our intention is to hopefully repeat this seminar on an annual basis and encourage members of all ages to attend.
In all aspects of end-of-life planning, we want to highlight the Light of Christ Columbarium and Memorial Garden as a final resting place for your loved ones. This beautiful space just outside our church entrance provides a space for survivors to meditate, pray, reflect and honor the life of their loved one.
Current and past members of Light of Christ Church and members of their immediate families are eligible for inurnment in the LOC Columbarium and Memorial Garden. The current members of Columbarium Board of Trustees are Dave Gast, Tom Sebelien, Lisa Krause, Pastor Tim Wheatley and Jinnelle Weis. Please reach out to any board member or the church office if you have questions or would like additional information.
